Missoni x Converse Auckland Racer

If you didn't see the Missoni SS12 Collection check it out below, those who have will have noticed the unbelievable footwear on show. The most interesting of which was the newest in their series of collaborations with Converse. I can't describe how good I think these are, the previous attempts with the Chuck Taylor All Star were in my mind a mear stepping stone to this eventual direct hit. Creative collaborations take a while to bind together but it seems like this one has just hit top gear...

Ronnie Fieg x Asics Gel-Lyte III “Mint” Preview

I really don't need to wax lyrical about the talent of Ronnie Fieg, as they say actions speak louder than words. These are rumoured to be his last David Z exclusive release which will not only make the overseas fans happy because I can imagine seeing more releases in Europe but also making them probably the most sought after pair to date, a pair of these will be mine no doubt...

Converse First String Star Tech with Lunarlon

Now that Converse are owned by Nike the interbrand relationship has become obviously stronger, Frank The Butcher has given a sneak preview of a Converse First String Star Tech with a drop in Lunarlon insole. Will this mark a blurring of the lines between the two brands and spark a raft of hybrids, only time will tell but for now these are really retro and really comfy, nice...

Missoni Menswear SS12 Collection

Missoni are true to their brand heritage, the eye catching knitwear is the heart of the collection. But they tie it together beautifully with a mixture of loose fitting suiting a selection of colourful cardigans and also taking their well known patterns onto more casual t shirts. Altogether this is an immense collection, I think unlike some of the other high end brands wearability is key and I would wear almost every piece on show. Details are always key on the catwalk and even down to the superb selection of footwear which we will hopefully see more of in the coming days the knitted trainers look crazy nice...

Interesting Denim...

Heres two top quality limited release collaborations  on which to feast your denim needs: First up Tenue De Nimes (my number one store in the Dam) has come together with Naked and Famous to create a 13oz green, rope-dyed army repro denim. The mid-green color dye is apparently very unstable therefore hard to create a good colour but the hard work has paid off delivering a wearable and truly unique coloured offering.

Secondly the boys over at NeedSupply.com have teamed up with Tellason to bring you what look like the perfect fitting pair of jeans. Built from 14oz selvage denim in a lovely dark indigo colour, the finish is just brilliant, these certainly look great and are made to last longer than the wearer.

Both releases are limited to 24 pairs so hurry to avoid disappointment.

Acne Menswear SS12 Presentation

The thing I took away from this show was how brilliantly simple they have managed to make this collection look and feel,  I recently watched a short film with Joan Titou of APC who stated the hardest task is to make something so complicated look so simple. Acne have executed this with razor precision, the patterns singularly are simply beautiful not to mention the mix of clean sartorial cuts and quality knitwear is really brilliant. Their is something effortless about Swedish fashion and Acne have captured this essence in spectacular fashion...

Vans V3091 LX Limonta Pack

Vans are really coming into their own of over the last 2 years, their collaborations have been outstanding and this injection of creativity seems to have also helped their own roster releases to blossom too. This V3091 pack consisting of 4 colorways are first-rate. Constructed from leather and materials imported from Italian textile manufacturer Limonta they are not only brilliant in design but also finish, I have to say my particular favourites are the multi tonal green/orange/purple pair which remind me of Autumn leaves.

Burberry Menswear SS12 Collection

Thanks to everyone who tuned in to watch the live stream of the show, for those who didn't see it you can still watch it here. As for the show itself it definitely did not disappoint. I think the thing that strikes me with every Burberry show of recent years is how well they manage to mix such a hugely varied selection of colours and materials. This show is simply brilliant, the parkas, trench coats and jackets are really special. There are some awesome native inspired patterns which really help to bring the feeling of summer into the clothing. The moccasin shoes were also incredible with the heavy stitching and native look they really helped bring unity to the whole collection.

Giuliano Fujiwara Footwear

Giuliano Fujiwara gives us a preview of his 2012 footwear collection. With simple colorways and the highest quality materials they look great. I really like the leather detailing around the top of the outsole, nice...

Band Of Outsiders SS12 Collection

Band Of Outsiders showcased their SS12 Collection at Pitti Uomo this week. The collection is a game of two halfs with the first having a casual theme with a mixture of bright colours and sporty outerwear. The second is a well tailored set of pastel summer formal wear accented by the vibrant boat shoes which come from their ever successful collaboration with shoemakers Sperry. All in all I think it is a solid collection, maybe not as good as previous seasons but there are definitely some great pieces.

Rob Pollock Woodgrain Bicycles

For over 40 years Rob Pollock has been perfecting the art of faux woodgraining. Traditionally used in the restoration of classic cars and vintage hot rods, Rob has applied this technique to custom bike frames. Each frame is hand painted by Rob himself and finished with two pot epoxy resin to give a hard durable finish. The time and effort he has put in really does shine through, it is a thing of beauty, more information here....

Union x McNairy 'Blue Bey'

Union LA had a visitor this week in the form of Hip-Hop legend Mos Def, they took the time to get some shots of the dapper gent showing off their latest collaboration with Mark McNairy. Nicknamed 'Bue Bey' this pair of shoes certainly looks the business. I've been told many a time not to mix black and blue, well this is two fingers up to those folk who didn't believe, available now via their webstore...

Redecker Lint Brush

I know your probably thinking I may have lost my mind during my absense but this is not the case. I have recently decided that many of the clothes I wear are produced solely for the purpose of cleaning the areas where I sit down or walk around in and it infuriates me especially with trousers such as cords that there is more fluff and hair than actual material covering my legs. This lint brush from German brand Redecker is not only brilliant at what it does but also in its simple design and feel very cool aswell, available now via Present...

Nike Vintage Autumn Blazers

Having just purchased the yellow pair from the last drop I feel I can pretty much fully endorse this selection of Blazers. The silhouette is a classic, the selection of colours here is great for Autumn but they are also available in stacks of other colours. They look great with a pair of jeans or shorts or chinos for that matter and they can either accent a monotone outfit or be part of a grander color scheme, available now...

Apologies...

I feel I must apologise for my lack of posting over the last 2 weeks my PC gave up the ghost so I decided to upgrade to a Macbook Pro, cue 2 weeks of waiting in front of the postbox and being constantly disappointed at the sight of a never ending stream of bills. This added to the realisation that I probably do not have the money to afford this majestic machine but I roll on regardless. So hopefully within the week I will be back to some kind of normality (despite my dwindling bank balance) and be posting like a maniac once again, watch this space and thank you for your patience...

Tantum LA Pocket Tees

Pocket T-shirts seem to be everywhere at the moment and to be honest they are kind of boring me a little. However when I saw this collection from a small LA based company Tantum I was hooked all over again. The brand is primarily a headwear company but they have recently expanded into apparel. Maybe its the mix of Navajo inspired patterns, camo, fringe detailing and the feeling of ultimate casual design. I really like the brand, although I can only find stockists of their hats online you can contact them via their blog...
